8 Configure Hyper-V Server mange from remote.

This article is assume the Hyper-V has already install and enable on the Server Core.

1. Create the match new user account: This step can be skip if you are not use workgroup

Use sconfig to create new administrator account that match the workstation’s user account. You can use the net user  command to change the password later if necessary.

net user username *

2. Enable Ping

netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="ICMP Allow Incoming V4 Echo Request by WORKGROUP" protocol=icmpv4:8,any dir=in action=allow

You can also edit the host file to make sure the Computer Name resolution correctly.  C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\host This step needs to be done on the workstation where you tent to use manage the Server. SG23

3. Enable the RDP

This can be done through the sconifg or via below command

Cscript %windir%\system32\SCRegEdit.wsf /ar 0         
Cscript %windir%\system32\SCRegEdit.wsf /cs 0

4. Configure for remote Management via sconfig

Option 1 will allow we manage the Hyper-V server through RSAT-> Hyper-V manager.

Step 2,3 needs to perform in the exactly order. After enable the Windows Powershell, it will require to bounce the server.


5. Add Trust host for WINRM

This needs to be perform on the Workstation not on the server.

winrm quickconfig
winrm set winrm/config/client @{TrustedHosts="RemoteComputerName"}
netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="Remote Volume Management" new enable=yes

6. Enable the Remove manage volume

Download HVRemote from

cscript hvremote.wsf /mode:client /anondcom:grant /firewallhypervclient:enable /mmc:enable
