0 Install Domain Controller on Windows 2008R2 Server Core

1. Configure Remote Desktop

sconfig –> 7. Remote Desktop

2. Configure Remote management

sconfig –> 4

1) Allow MMC Remote Management
2) Enable Windows PowerShell

After enable PowerShell, we will need to reboot the host before proceed the next step:  Allow Server Manager Remote Management

3. Setup Firewall rule for the ping –> This is optional. I just like to have this setup in my lab environment.

netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="ICMP Allow Incoming V4 Echo" protocol=icmpv4:8,any dir=in action=allow

To check the firewall rule

netsh advfirewall firewall show rule name=all

4. Rename the Host name

Netdom renamecomputer %COMPUTERNAME% /NewName:SG25

The computer name will change after reboot.

5. Set static IP

netsh int ip set address "Local Area Connection" static 192.168.168.138 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1 1
 
6. Install DNS Role
start /w ocsetup DNS-Server-Core-Role
 
8. Create New Domain
notepad DC.txt
dcpromo /unattend:C:\Users\Administrator\DC.txt


 
DC.txt Contents

[DCINSTALL]
AutoConfigDNS=Yes
DomainNetBiosName=ocpbbc
NewDomainDNSName=ocpbbc.com
ReplicaOrNewDomain=Domain
NewDomain=Forest
ForestLevel=3
DomainLevel=3
SafeModeAdminPassword=Password1234
RebootOnSuccess=Yes
