0 Oracle Database(2): What do I need to do after database is being created

Change the SYS, SYSTEM password

The password can be specify when in the create database syntax, if not specify, the below default password would be given.

  • sys:change_on_install
  • system: manager

We have to change it to something else.

alter user USERID identified by PASSWORD;

Create the oracle password file to enable the remote login as sysdba

Use orapwd to create the password file and set the REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE.

Create Data Dictionary  and Build-in Package

Run as sys

Create SQL PLUS related tables

If pupbld.sql has not been run, when connect to the database with SQL PLUS, we would get the below error.

Run as system
