1 Connect to Windows Azure SQL Server

Windows Azure is the Microsoft answer to the Amazon AWS.

Since Amazon AWS does not offer the SQL Server enterprise edition and Windows Azure does. So I decided to give the Azure a try.

The interface is quite simple .  Click the “CONNECT” button, this would invoke the Remote desktop and allow us to connect to the VM directly.

Connect to SQL Server from SSMS

1. Get the host name : Host name is under DNS Session

2. Setup the End Point

3. Setup the SQL server authentication

4. The most important thing is to setup the firewall rule

If firewall rules is not setup, we would get the below error while connecting to the SQL server from SSMS.
