11 HammerDB : Load Testing

HammerDB is well known load testing application. Formally known as Hammerora.

You can download the latest version from SourceForge . http://hammerora.sourceforge.net/ 

Installation

Very straight forward.  It does not have the Chinese language , Maybe I should create one  

We need to pay attention on the connection property. Generally, I use HostName,PortNumber to connect to the SQL Server.  However, the HammerDB is using Name Pipe to connect to the SQL Server. If we simply use Host Name ( in the example below , the host name is SGC3), we would get the name pipe error: 

{[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0]Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server [2]. }
Therefore, we have to use HOSTNAME\INSTNACE_NAME

Create Virtual User

Start Transaction counter

Run Virtual Users

From HammerDB console, you can see 3 virtual users has execute the query .

Switch to the transaction counter, you can see the transaction statistic .

 

From SQL Server Activity monitor, you can see there are three spid coming from Tk 8.6 which is the HammerDB processes.

Stop the Virtual User
