Upgrade SSDT to SQL 2014 in Visual Studio 2013
I already has SQL Server 2012 SSDT installed with my visual studio. We can get to the latest upgrade inside the Visual studio.
tools-> External and updates
This will redirect to the website and Download SSDTSetup.exe. Double click the installer to start the installation.
You will see the SSDT being upgrade to 12.0.40706.
SSDT-BI
SSDT-BI is the upgraded version of BIDS in SQL 2008/2005. Download the latest release from . http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42313
Double click the SSDTBI_x86_ENU.exe to start the installation.
After we restart visual studio, we will get new Business intelligence project type.
SSMS 2014
I get SSMS 2014 from MSDN download. In SQL 2012, SSMS Express has full features but I am not sure if that is still the case in SQL 2014. The download size from SSMS Express ( SQLManagementStudio_x64_ENU.exe) is same as I get from MSDN( en_sql_server_2014_management_studio_x64_exe_3941421.exe) .
Another thing to note is the download page for SSMS express http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/dn434042 doesn’t play nice with Chrome. It will initial the download. You have to do it from IE.
The interesting thing here is MSFT now allow we have 2 version of SSMS co-exist. In my test environment, I have SSMS 2012 and SSMS 2014 installed.
